When asked by Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie if the government would buy the shipyard if no buyer was found, Swinney said the government is not prepared to rule anything out.
“We will do all we can to save the yard,” he said.
The River Clyde’s last remaining commercial shipbuilder has been fighting for survival in recent months before entering administration last Friday.
