The vessels’ charterer, Finnish operator Containerships, said the new 1,400-teu dual-fuel ships will be delivered in 2017 and it is considering buying them and the first two eco-ships in the series.
The original order was placed at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipyard in China in May, for handover in 2016.
Containerships will be the first shortsea container operator in Europe to run ships on LNG.
