The company, the chartering arm of Singapore trader Noble Group, will pay $8.3m for the 169,400-dwt Cape Viewer(built 1992).
The ship has been at the centre of a months-long court fight between its Ukrainian owner and two claimants chasing unpaid judgements against Industrial Carriers Inc (ICI), which collapsed in 2008.
Noble, wthe ship’s charterer, submitted the initial bid in the auction, and no rivals topped its offer.
