In a statement The Great Lakes Towing Company said the duo will be built by affiliate Great Lakes Shipyard, which is based in Cleveland, Ohio.

It noted the tugs will replace two ageing units that are involved in the installation, removal and maintenance of the Lake Erie-Niagara River Ice Boom and other construction projects.

Great Lakes pointed out that delivery of the first vessel is due in September of next year but didn’t shed light on when the second is scheduled to hit the water.
