The new 42-metre Sea Axe 4008 design will be able to transport 100 people and is built around passenger capacity rather than cargo.
The vessel combines a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, which allows the vessel to combine strength with speed, the yard said.
It will also consume 10% less fuel than conventional ships.
The vessels are due for delivery in 2016.
