The shipowner’s parent SILK Holdings said the company had signed a contract with the domestic Muhibbah Marine Engineering yard to construct two 70-metre offshore vessels.

The combined price was MYR 219m ($65.78m).

Both 1,670-gt ships are due by the end of the second quarter in 2015.

“The agreement for the new vessels is in line with the group’s ongoing fleet-renewal and expansion initiative,” it said.
