Managing director Emanuele Grimaldi told the Wall Street Journal that it has shortlisted Chinese yards for the deal, which should be signed in March.
It wants the new vessels to ship cars produced by Fiat Chrysler.
“The ships will carry 7,000 cars each on 13 decks and will move Fiat and Chrysler-made cars from Europe to the US and the other way around.”
