Economou’s Cardiff Marine has sold the 301,100-dwt Universal Prime (built 1997) in a $31m deal, independent shipbroking sources say.
Clarksons says the price, if confirmed, would be “somewhat of an anomaly” given it is in line with the fee paid for the 298,500-dwt GC Haikou (built 2000) last month.
A leading sale and purchase broker tells TradeWinds the suggested price is very firm and could indicate the tanker has gone to a conversion buyer.
