MOL subsidiary Ferry Sunflower has ordered two big ro-paxes for delivery in 2018.
The company said the new ships will replace two vessels serving the route between Osaka and Shibushi Port.
No yard or price was revealed for the deal, but sister company MOL Ferry has two ro-paxes on order at Japan Marine United (JMU), contracted in 2014.
Brokers said JMU will also build the new ships.
