Five Japanese companies are to give up their stake in Brazilian shipbuilder Ecovix-Engevix Construcoes Oceanicas.

The move has been prompted by the low oil price and the corruption scandal that has hit Brazilian energy group Petrobras, the Nikkei daily reported.

Mitsubishi Corp, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Imabari Shipbuilding, Namura Shipbuilding and Oshima Shipbuilding acquired a 30% holding in 2013 in a deal worth JPY 30bn (about $305m at the time).
