Greek owner Golden Union appears to have clinched a deal to buy back two 179,000-dwt bulker newbuildings which are nearing completion at Korea's Hanjin Heavy Industries but which it cancelled last year.

Sources say the ships, hull number 255 and hull 256,  which are due for delivery in 2016, have been sold for $35.3m each.

The Greek owner, which declines to comment, ordered four sisterships at the yard two years ago for $55m each, but cancelled at least two of them last year, according to the yard.
