FSL to carry loss on disposal of boxship duo

First Ship Lease will shoulder a $4.2m loss after scrapping a pair of boxships.

Singapore-listed FSL has sent the 4,229-teu Ever Radiant (built 1994) and Ever Respect (built 1995) for demolition after they rolled of charters with Evergreen.

FSL says the ships, which were reported scrapped in the print issue of TradeWinds today, fetched $10.8m.

It will use $8m of that cash to pay off debt, with the loss on the sale carried in its first quarter accounts.
