The sale of a suezmax tanker by US-listed Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) to a Norwegian KS (limited partnership) has failed.

TEN was supposed to take a 30% stake in a new owning company set up by Clarksons Platou Project Finance for the 164,000-dwt Silia T (built 2002).

The tanker is on an 18-month time charter to Eiger Shipping, part of Lukoil, at $34,000 per day — around $3,000 above the average one-year rate over the past 15 years, according to the project’s prospectus.
