Andreas Sohmen-Pao-led BW Group’s entry into the dry-cargo market has come at a time when owners, brokers and analysts believe asset prices may have reached a trough.

The Singaporean owner has made its move in a week that saw second-hand investment in dry cargo tonnage pass $1bn this year.

Nordic Bulk Carriers founder Christian Bonfils was this week appointed to head newly established BW Dry Cargo, a venture which sees the group’s return to the bulker market after an absence of more than a decade.
