Bharati Shipyard is expecting to book INR 10bn ($223.48m) of new orders over the next 12 months.

The Indian company said new business would come from the offshore and defence sectors.

"At the moment, we have sufficient orders for the next one-and-a-half to two years," managing director PC Kapoor told reporters.

The current orderbook stands at INR 5bn.

It is planning to spend INR 2bn on new shipyards at Dabhol in Maharshtra and Mangalore in Karnataka, the latter of which has been delayed by land acquisition problems.
