Lundh’s chemical coup
Swedish shipbroker races to cash in on management of small Turkish chemical tankers built on spec during the market boom.

Brokers from two shipbroking houses report that the New York-listed owner has sold the 68,200-dwt Hesnes (built 1990).
They do not say who was believed to have purchased the Kertch-built panamax tanker.
"We have not sold the Hesnes," the Tsakos spokesman said Wednesday.
TradeWinds reported nearly two weeks ago that Athens-based Tsakos is facing between $20m to $25m in impairment charges on three 1990- and 1991-built tankers, including the Hesnes and its sistership Victory III.
In February 2006, Tsakos was reported to have sold the two panamaxes and a third sistership to Eastwind Maritime for $87m en bloc, or $29m per vessel, but the companies denied the sale a day later. The company was also said to have sold the Hesnes for $25m in 2007 in a deal that apparently never materialised.
Tsakos Energy Navigation controls 51 double-hull tankers including four newbuildings. TradeWinds has requested confirmation of the Hesnes sale from the company.
