Restructuring DSME has said it will separate its IT business next year.
The non-core operation, which could be named DSME Information Systems, will launch on 1 January, according to the Yonhap news agency.
The company will handle the yard's IT systems with 150 members of staff.
DSME is carrying out asset sales and workforce cuts to raise money for its continuing refinancing.
The yard wants to bring the number of employees down 20% to 10,000 by the end of December.
