Vard's Tulcea shipyard in Romania is bringing in 300 Vietnamese workers.

The Ziarul Financiar daily said the recruits would be welders and locksmiths.

“We need workforce, there are many ship orders. We can’t find welders and locksmiths locally,” it cited yard boss Tudorel Topa as saying.

Experienced Romanian welders have left to work in Germany, Finland or the UK, where they can earn up to EUR 3,000 ($3,350) per month.
