Gulf Island Shipyards of the US has clinched an order for a new research ship from Oregon State University (OSU).
The university has received a grant of $121.88m from the National Science Foundation to build the vessel for the United States Academic Research Fleet.
It is the first of three planned ships approved by Congress for research in coastal regions.
