Ship systems group Wartsila has increased earnings in the second quarter despite tough marine markets.

The Finnish company said net profit was EUR 76m ($87.54), up from EUR 41m a year ago, boosted by power plant deliveries.

Order intake increased 14% to EUR 1.36bn, while revenue was up 8% at EUR 1.29bn.

CEO Jaako Eskola said: "Although the marine markets remain challenging, a favourable vessel contracting mix supported the development of marine solutions' orders received, particularly in the second quarter.
