Marine equipment acquisitions from foreign suppliers are set to be regulated in a bill approved by the Russian parliament (Duma), according to officials.

The move is part of the government’s drive to replace foreign-manufactured equipment with domestic equivalents.

Russian media cite deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin as saying the purchase of marine equipment above a RUB 2m ($34,570) contract threshold will be subject to exclusive scrutiny by the country's import substitution commission.
