The Turkish government is planning a big increase in shipbuilding capacity to tap into LNG and LPG carrier markets.

A source in the ministry of transport, maritime affairs and communications told the Trend news agency that it wants to see its capacity rise to 10m dwt by 2023, from 3.6m dwt now.

“First, it is planned to create infrastructure and purchase technologies that will allow organising own production of vessels for transportation of LNG and LPG,” the source said.
