Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk is leading government moves to re-establish Poland as a force in the newbuilding market.

Poland used to be a shipbuilding powerhouse but clashes with the European Union over state subsidies, coupled with heavy losses and problems with the unions, cost thousands of jobs.

Now there are attempts to revitalise the industry with the focus on MSR Gryfia shipyard, which uses part of the previous Szczecin Shipyard, and Remontowa, the former Northern Shipyard.
