Philly Shipyard has made some staff redundant after losing a TOTE Maritime boxship order last month.

In its fourth quarter results statement, the US shipbuilder, listed in Oslo, said it was halting certain operations and had put some staff "in a lay-off status", after the US owner let a letter of intent for four 3,700-teu LNG-powered vessels expire.

This was due to a Honolulu terminal needing more upgrading than expected.
