Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has seen new ship orders fall 72% in the first eight months of 2016.

It told the Korea Stock Exchange that shipbuilding deals were worth $1.235bn, while overall new business was down 45% at $5.27bn, according to the Asiasis website.

Total revenue to 31 August was KRW 13.5 trillion ($12.18bn), down 16.8%.

Subsidiary Hyundai Mipo's new orders were worth $224m, down 83%, as shipowners suffered in tough markets.
