Navios Maritime executives sought to dispel worries about tanker supply, explaining that they are not bracing for new orders but do see prospects for scrapping.

Group chief executive Angeliki Frangou said she does not expect tanker ordering to pick up as charter rates pick up going into the winter peak season.

"Overall there is a lot of caution on newbuildings and new projects," she said during a conference call to discuss third quarter earnings of VLCC owner Navios Maritime Midstream Partners.
