Tanker and bulker owner China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) is predicting a big jump in annual profit.
The shipowner said earnings for 2016 could rise by between 40% and 70%.
It attributed the improvement to better markets and state subsidies for scrapping older ships.
CMES made a net profit of CNY 1.15bn ($168m) in 2015.
