Tonnage-hungry Great Eastern Shipping has continued its buying spree with the purchase of an MR product tanker.

The Indian shipowner said it had signed a contract to buy the 2008-built, 51,000-dwt vessel, but gave few other details.

The new acquisition is set to join the fleet in the first quarter of 2018, Great Eastern confirmed in a statement.

Last month it signed a contract to acquire a 52,450-dwt bulker built in 2006 reported to be Tsuneishi Holdings of Japan’s Tenshou Maru.
