Greek owner Neda Maritime has disposed of one of its oldest tankers, the Samsung Heavy Industries-built, 309,000-dwt Amantea (built 2002).

The ship has gone to an undisclosed buyer for $23.5m to $24m, in line with expectations. The tanker, which which was put up for sale in March, has recently passed special survey.

A weaker tanker market means that there is less appetite for VLCCs of 15 years old or more.
