A newbuilding asphalt/bitumen tanker has been refloated after grounding off Canada.

An investigation has begun into how the 15,100-dwt Damia Desgagnes (built 2017) got stuck in the St Lawrence Seaway between Cornwall and Brockville on Thursday, Radio Canada reported.

It was carrying 13,000 of oil products from Montreal to Nanticok in Ontario.

No pollution has been reported.

The vessel has now been towed to the side of the seaway.
