Kinder Morgan’s US Jones Act tanker arm has seen a lucrative contract for one of its product tankers extended by the US military.

The Military Sealift Command (MSC) will keep hold of the 48,635-dwt Empire State (built 2010) for the second one-year option period at a cost of $30.6m.

“The option will continue to provide the US flagged Jones Act tanker for the transportation of petroleum product in support of the Defense Logistics Agency–Energy in accordance with the terms of the charter,” the US Department of Defence said.
