Product tanker specialist American Shipping Company (AMSC) has increased third quarter profit as the taxman took a smaller share.

The Oslo-listed company said net earnings to 30 September were $3.9m, from $3m in 2016.

Revenue was stable at $22.1m, while the tax bill dropped $1.5m to $0.5m.

The company has a contract backlog of $248m due to its fleet being bareboat chartered to OSG.
