Stena Sonangol lifts suezmax pool with Sovcomflot tanker

Stena Sonangol is expanding its suezmax tanker pool, taking on a vessel for 12 months’ trading at an attractive rate.

The 159,000-dwt SKS Skeena (built 2006) is being chartered by Stena Bulk from Russian tanker giant Sovcomflot (SCF Group) for $16,000 per day — revealing the pressure on tanker rates.

London broker Clarksons says the one-year rate for modern suezmaxes is now $17,750 per day, having fallen from an average of $27,300 per day last year.
