Ocean Tankers’ appetite for chemical tanker newbuildings continues unabated.
With the ink barely dry from signing for half a dozen, 11,000-dwt IMO 2 chemical and product tankers at China's Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, the Singaporean shipowner has added two more similar-size tanker newbuildings at Weihai Samjin Shipbuilding.
One shipbuilding source familiar with the deal says the pair of IMO 2 tankers ordered by Ocean Tankers at Weihai Samjin are option units that the owner held when it signed up for four other ships last year.
