Teekay and Wartsila have revealed a new shuttle tanker design that should cut CO2-equivalent emissions by 40%.

Wartsila's systems for the four ships at Samsung were ordered in December and this month and are worth EUR 110m ($131m) to the Finnish group.

In addition to operating on LNG as the primary fuel, the dual-fuel engines will also be able to operate on a mixture of LNG and recovered volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - the gas evaporating from the oil cargo tanks during loading.
