US crude exports could reach over two million barrels per day in the not-too-distant future, US government forecasters say. But the outlook hinges on price firming substantially and production continuing to step up.

The forecast is some balm to tanker owners who remain hopeful that US crude cargoes will continue to fill tankers. DHT Holdings co-chief executive Trygve Munthe took note of the positive tonne-mile factor of US Gulf cargoes heading to Far East destinations.
