The European Commission is looking to buck the US's move to isolate Iran with its own efforts to allow European companies to continue to do business with the Middle East state.
The threat of renewed sanctions comes after US President Donald Trump said he would not renew the US endorsement of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Over the next six months, energy and shipping businesses are expected to wind down their Iran dealings unless a new deal gets struck.
