New tanker venture Al-Iraqia Shipping Services & Oil Trading (Aissot) has taken three VLCCs on long-term charters from the fleet of Evangelos Marinakis, according to European broking sources.

The transaction marks the first significant deal for Aissot since it announced plans in September last year to boost Iraq’s tanker fleet via acquisitions and charters.

The ships are on five-year contracts from Marinakis-controlled Capital Ship Management.
