New York-listed Nordic American Tankers (NAT) has fixed a suezmax newbuilding out for at least three years.

CEO Herbjorn Hansson said Equinor, formerly Statoil, has booked one of three Samsung vessels which is due in August.

The firm period is three years, with two options to extend until 2023.

The deal starts in autumn and pays $21,000 per day, "producing positive cashflow and earnings", he added.
