Japanese trader and shipowner Marubeni has reportedly inked a tanker newbuilding deal at Onomichi Dockyard.
Brokers said the company has ordered two 80,000-dwt ships for delivery in 2020.
No price was revealed for the contracts.
The vessels will be flagged in Panama.
Marubeni already operates three tankers in a fleet dominated by bulkers.
