Bien Dong Shipping of Vietnam has denied that it sold its newest tanker.
European brokers said the 45,000-dwt medium range tanker Biendong Melody (built 2004) was sold to an undisclosed buyer for $9m.
But Cao Thuy Nga, deputy manager of the company’s tanker department, said: “We’ve not sold Biendong Melody yet."
He said the Shin Kurushima Dockyard-built ship remains on time charter.
