Greek owner Moundreas has scrapped its oldest VLCC and an aframax as the flow of veteran crude tankers to the breakers continues.

Moundreas company NGM Energy is sending the 281,000-dwt Ataka (built 1998) for scrap, brokers and cash buyers say.

A price of $438 per ldt is being placed on the Japanese-built tanker, which would mean a figure of close to $17m for the vessel.
