US east coast refiners are receiving more domestic crude oil from the Gulf Coast by tanker and barges, according to the US Energy Information Agency (EIA).
Since mid 2017, refiners have been receiving as much crude oil by vessels from the Gulf Coast as by rail from the Midwest.
A domestic fleet buildup in the Gulf Coast has made shipping crude oil to the East Coast less expensive compared with costs in 2015.
