MI LNG Company is due tostart operations on 1 April and will be 51% controlled by Mitsubishi with Imabariholding the other 49%.
The new joint venture is designedto be able to cope with large-scale LNGcarrier construction projects, which are expected to increase in tandem withexpanding global demand for LNG.
Upon receiving an order for an LNG carrier, the jointventure will prepare the specifications and then order ship construction eitherat Mitsubishi’s Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works or to an Imabari facility.
