New York-based Scorpio Tankers is about to order at least four very large gas carrier (VLGC) newbuildings in South Korea in a continued play on the US shale story and a counterbalance to its growing products-tanker business, TradeWinds has learned.
The order for four firm 84,000-cbm units with options,believed to be at Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo, would mark the latest2013 adventure for a company that has raised nearly $1bn in equity this yearalone and grown its products newbuilding book to 54 units.
