Theshipowner has fixed the 125,000-cbm WilEnergy (built 1983) on a nine monthcontract with a three month option in the charterer’s favour.

Thefixture, which is due to start on 10 November, is expected to net Awilco LNGabout $7.3m in annualized ebitda contributions.

Awilco LNG has been suffering from low fleetutilisation which in the last quarter had fallen to 54 % for its tradingvessels.

TheOslo-based company has also secured its 156,000-cbm newbuilding WilForce (built2013) for its maiden voyage ending mid-December.

Awilco LNG said it continuesdiscussions for short to medium term contracts for the vessel which wasrecently delivered from Daewoo.

TradeWindsreported earlier this month that charterers were shunning speculative LNGnewbuildings that are now emerging from yards.

Spot-marketrates on LNG carriers have been holding up over the last few months withsix-figure levels being achieved for prompt ships.

Butowners of newbuildings face additional cool-down, positioning and inspectioncosts and a perceived underlying reluctance from charterers to take an ex-yardship.

The WilForce is ownedby Teekay LNG Partners (TGP) following a sale and leaseback deal with AwilcoLNG in the summer.
