New York-quoted Ardmore has taken the 45,700-dwt Wawasan Celeste (built 2006), it is claimed.
A price of between $20.5m and $20.7m has been placed on the sale, which brokers suggest is fair and in line with recent deals.
Attempts to reach Ardmore for comment were not immediately successful at the time of writing Friday.
The ship, which had been previously liked with Oceanbulk, would be a first dip into the second hand market for Ardmore since May 2011.
