Navios Acquisition announced the purchase of vessels built in 2009, 2010 and 2011 at a time when sentiment towards the struggling sector is turning and spot rates are at their highest level since 2011.
It appears others have the same idea, with DHT and Navig8 understood to be looking at newbuilding orders in the sector, which has seen only Metrostar from the west buy new this year.
