The Dane replaces Tobias Konig, who is leaving at the end of the year "for personal reasons", Marenave said.
Konig is chairman and the sole executive board member.
Daus-Petersen has been appointed to the executive board, the owner confirmed.
Most recently he was the managing director in Japan for Danish owner J Lauritzen.
He began his shipping career at London broker SSY in 1993, also working for the company in New York and Hong Kong.
