Pertamina tightens up

Indonesia state energy company Pertamina is amending charter contracts to beef up security measures after oil thefts.

Its marketing and commercial director Hanung Budya told the Tempo website the move was a response to a recent case of smuggling.

The new terms should be in force by 1 July.

One of the measures suggested includes compulsory activation of satellite systems so Pertamina can track ships.

Owners who do not comply will have their deals torn up.
